Active Yogi’s Top 5 Tips to get Race Day Ready for #RUNSUPYOGA Sydney


We said Namaste in serious style today, stretching along with 40 bloggers, editors and tastemakers in Bondi’s iconic Icebergs pool to celebrate #RUNSUPYOGA hitting Sydney's, Manly Beach in a little over two weeks time, on October 24th. Local yoga guru Kate Kendall aka Active Yogi lead the flow with an energising 60 minute session to the sound of waves breaking only metres away.

Still basking in our yoga high, we hit the Icebergs rooftop terrace for a delicious light lunch of smoked trout, poached chicken salad and fresh coconut water. As we soaked up the incredible views across Bondi beach and talked all things fitspo with our fellow yogis, our friends at Blue Dinosaur and Organic Avenue treated us with take away paleo bars and juices to get through our afternoon, nourished and refreshed.

We caught up with Active Yogi after the session to get a few tips and tricks in preparation for the big day.

Here are her top five -

1. Find time for some stillness at the start of the day so that you're cool, calm and collected.

2. Stay super hydrated. Always.

3. Eat clean. You're a yogi and athlete so looking after your body is key to staying mentally clear & focused.

3. Get bendy. Make daily stretches a ritual so that you're limber on the day.

4. Be kind. To yourself and others. It's easy and when practiced daily it helps release feel good chemicals in the body that improve your wellness, productivity and ability to kick butt.

5. Practice gratitude. For your friends, for your surroundings and for the fact that you have a healthy enough body to participate and enjoy physical freedom.
