Bianca Buitendag

Bianca

Bianca grew up near the beach of False Bay outside of Cape Town, South Africa where she learnt to surf at age 8 with her 2 brothers. She soon started competing in junior events and from the start appeared to have a natural flair for competitive surfing.
She has obtained provincial colours in surf lifesaving, biathlon, gymnastics, swimming, hockey and surfing but since starting high school 3 years ago chose to focus on her surfing. In 2005 she moved to the Southern Cape region of South Africa and has had the benefit of surfing some top quality surf that the area has to offer which allowed her to improve her surfing technique.

Over the last three years she has undertaken various trips to Europe and has found the European pro junior circuit to be challenging with a high competitive standard which has helped prepare her to progress to WWQS events
Bianca finished up her matric year at school in 2011, with an impressive 87% average. With her matric certificate under her belt and wealth of experience surfing on the ASP Junior World Tour, Bianca is ready to turn her full attention to the World Qualifying Series in 2012.

Competitive surfing and the support of Roxy has allowed her to travel to Europe (France, Portugal and Spain) on various occasions as well as to Hawaii, Los Angeles, Ecuador, New Zealand, Bali, Australia and Brazil. So although she has had to make sacrifices in dedicating most of her time to surfing, it is her passion and there are rewards in seeing other countries and mixing with fellow surfers from all over the globe.
