Chelsea Tuach Wins Pantin Classic and Qualifies for 2016 World Tour!

In a low scoring final at the Pantin Classic in Spain over the weekend, Chelsea Tuach not only won the 6-Star event but fulfilled her dream of earning a spot on the 2016 WCT. Tuach’s form throughout the event saw her triumph over top seeds and current Championship Tour surfers, Malia Manuel and Alessa Quizon.

Moments after the win, we caught up with Chelsea to find out what it feels like when your dreams come true.

Congratulations on the win in Spain, you just qualified for the 2016 WCT! Describe how that moment felt.

Finding out I qualified for the Women’s CT was unreal! It’s something i have been working towards, something I’ve dreamt about for so long and accomplishing it feels incredible, I don’t think it’s hit me yet!!

What was the event like up until that winning moment?

The waves for this event were really tricky. It has been small for the whole week so patience was a big part of my win this week. Some of my losses this year have come from snatching bad waves and panicking too early. I learnt my lesson and i stayed calm, knowing I had 25 minutes and only two good waves to catch.

What's next? Are you heading to the next QS event in Chile?

I wont be traveling to Chile, it coincides with a big event in Barbados so Pantin was my last QS event. But I will be a wildcard at the ROXYpro France!

How has the support been from home, Barbados?

I’ve had amazing support from home!! Everyone in Barbados said they were in tears after the final!! I’ve really felt the love and qualifying means even more to me knowing I’m the first Barbadian to fly the flag at that level with my whole country backing me! I can’t wait for next year!
