Reigning World Champion Stephanie Gilmore, wildcard Bronte Macaulay and 2014 #ROXYpro runner-up Bianca Buitendag hit the water this afternoon in the opening heat of the WSL World Tour event on the Gold Coast.

In Heat 3, local hero Stephanie Gilmore came up against wildcard Bronte Macaulay and returned-to-form Silvana Lima. Facing tricky conditions and the changing tide, Silvana Lima came out on top, posting the highest heat score of 18.16.
South African Bianca Buitendag faced off against Coco Ho and Lakey Peterson in the final heat of the day, Heat 6. With Lakey narrowly taking out the win, Bianca will head into Round 2 looking for a win to progress into the next round.
