While we’re still riding the high of Steph’s win, our morning coffee conversation consisted of the team recalling some of their favorite moments over the last week that made the #ROXYpro what it was. From stoked out groms to torrential rain and a champ getting barreled more than most, the Gold Coast was another one for the history books.
So here it is, our time in Coolangatta by the numbers
433 steps from our apartment to Snapper Rocks. Practically a hop, skip and a jump to catch the World’s best in action.
60 packets of instant film for our Leica Sofort Camera = 600 photos.
(P.S You can WIN a Leica Sofort here > )
28 degrees celsius, the average temperature during the competition period. From blazing sunny days, to stormy and rain-soaked, the Gold Coast gave us a taste of every season.
60 - approximately the amount of boards the ROXY team brought to the Gold Coast (including 3 longboard and 1 SUP).
17 team riders, talk about squad goals! Steph, Lisa, Bruna, Mainei, Bianca, LeeAnn, Sierra, Sky, Zahlia, Bronte, Caroline, Chloe, Nao, India, Alyssa, Piper and Ellie
6 days of competition is all it took to crown a champion.
4 barrels in one heat. Steph’s Round 3 heat against, Bronte Macaulay and Carissa Moore will definitely go down as one of our most memorable Gold Coast moments. Aside from scoring 4 barrels, one of her waves lasted for 1 minute and five seconds. Just let that sink in for a second… If you missed it, you can find it here >
3 of the cutest groms, Zahlia, Sky and Sierra, we affectionately named the #3Amigos 2.0 in honour of Monyca, Bruna and Kelia. We’re certain their endless stoke in the water or buzzing around the event made you smile.
2 - the amount of times we were caught in one of Queensland’s famous tropical downpours, soaked to the bone but still smiling.
1 #ROXYpro Champion. Congratulations Steph Gilmore
