Bonjour! We kicked off the 2014 ROXY Pro with a lay day due to small conditions at the event site in Hossegor. However, the forecast is looking good with a swell coming into town in the next few days, so we’ll be back on our boards soon!
We took full advantage of the day off and headed into the town of Hossegor for some coffee and lunch at Salon de the Marcot (Avenue Touring Club, 40150 Hossegor). We enjoyed some traditional French dishes, including tartine, and dined al fresco in the café’s seating area in a local park in the middle of the village.
Feeling a bit jetlagged from our travels, we decided to have a low-key night and make dinner at our ROXY team house instead of going out. We rented bikes and picked up some supplies around town, including fresh baked baguettes (when in france!), wine, pastries and fresh flowers for our dinner table.
The main town is so close to the beach that it is really easy to just jump on a bike and pick up what you need, instead of getting in the car and driving – a great combination of exercise and saving the environment one pedal at a time!
We whipped up some homemade sauce for our pasta, using olive oil, fresh tomatoes, basil and cheese and dined on our patio, enjoying our first full day in France and getting ready for a big week ahead filled with exploring, yoga, shopping and of course, surfing.
Check back on the blog to see what we’re up to each day! And if you’re in France, be sure to find us at the following places where we’ll be hosting some really fun activities that are free and open to the public! http://bit.ly/readysetroxy
